Roscoe Sharpe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 26, 2010.
Roscoe Lilburn Sharpe BRISTOL, Tenn. Roscoe Lilburn Sharpe, age 73, passed away on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at NHC in Bristol Virginia. He was born in Wytheville, Va., a son to the late Emmett and Ida Smelser Sharpe. Roscoe was a 1957 graduate of Tennessee High School. He was a retired truck driver with Mason Dixon Trucking and was a member of the King Masonic Lodge No. 461, a Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Jericho Shrine Temple, and the Teamsters Union No. 549. Roscoe loved his wife, June Eileen (Booher) Sharpe more than life itself. They were soul mates for over 51 years together. He also cherished his three children, David Lee Sharpe and wife, Teresa, Lilburn Mitchell (Mickey) Sharpe, and Donna Sharpe Hammett and husband, David. But most of all, he thought that nothing was better than his three grandkids, Daniel Sharpe, Kyle Sharpe, and Mallory Hammett. Additional survivors are his brother, Garland Leon Sharpe; and many wonderful nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Everyone knew Roscoe had an opinion for everything. They will remember him through all the creative tales he told, his big smile, and most of all his kind heart. He will be missed by all in the community that he loved! Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Noah Stout officiating. Masonic services by the King Masonic Lodge will follow the funeral service. Interment will follow with a private gathering for immediate family only at Glenwood Cemetery Pallbearers include: Danny Sharp, Doug Greer, Donnie Sharp, Eddie Fritts, Daryl (Tator) Sharp, Bill Jack Groseclose. Honorary pallbearers include: Richard Shumaker, Carl Jackson, Donald Wade, Vaughn Boles, Dr. David Thompson, Dr. Douglas Williams, Michael Johnston, Chip Deckard, Glenn Johnson, and Josh Kite. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at Weaver Funeral Home. Online condolences may be registered at www.Weaverfuneralhome.net and in lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be given to Shriner's Children's Hospital at 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Mrs. Sharpe, David, Mickey, Donna, and the Sharpe family,

Mr. Sharpe was a wonderful man and it was an honor and joy to know him. A great family man that was so justifiably proud of all of you.

I just can't think of Mr. Sharpe without that wonderful, engaging, often mischievous smile ( and of course it reminds me of him and Jeff picking on each other! ).

We will miss him... but thank the Good Lord to have known such a good man.

His snicker , his laugh …his stern words,
You knew right off he meant each with all his heart!
Tales, tales, tales … always stories of the past,
We’d smile at each other … then the BS would start!
A tremendous father…David and him like bookends,
A wonderful grandfather…he called him that little fart!
His smile, that look of agreement …twiddling his thumbs,
Reared back in a chair…his judgement of people an art!
The advice he’d given me about business and life …
I always knew he cared … memories I’ll never part!

Sharpe Family,
We only knew Roscoe for a short amount of time but, during this period he made an impact on our lives. He showed his love for his family and dedi
cation to what he believed in. We felt like we had known him more than a few years. Roscoe was always looking for a good deal and wouldn't hesitate helping you find anything you wanted.
