Ruby Jean Mullins Minnick KINGSPORT, Tenn. Ruby Jean Mullins Minnick, 85, passed away Jan. 4, 2010, at Williamsburg Villas in Knoxville, Tenn. Mrs. Minnick was born on Jan. 8, 1925, in Burdine, Ky., to the late William M. and Maude H. Mullins. She moved to Kingsport in 1955 where she remained a resident until moving to Williamsburg Villas in 2008. Mrs. Minnick was a devoted wife of 65 years to her late husband, Sylvester E. Minnick; and a loving mother and grandmother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Minnick was a member of the St. Matthews United Methodist Church. Mrs. Minnick was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Victor M. Mullins; and a sister, Helen Pressley. She is survived by three sisters, Pauline (Jack) Hartley, Westland, Mi., Shirley (Jerry) Shankin, Garden City, Mi., Donna (Lynn) Barstow, Lovington, Mi.; a brother-in-law, Carl (Edith) Minnick, Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Janet Walker, Roanoke Va.; a stepsister, Joan Cromley, Bellville Mi.; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Nancy Minnick, Newtown Square, Pa.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Stephen Smith, Herndon, Va., and Judy Minnick and Dennis Morelock, Madisonville, Tenn. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and families, James and Karen Minnick, Jacquelyn and Jarrod Hart, Daniel and Sara Overbey, Dianna and Peter Osickey, Brent Morelock, Andrew Minnick, Eric Minnick, Jennifer Minnick, Ken and Lisa Minnick, Julie and Travis Rauch and Stephanie Smith; as well as eight great-grandchildren, Lauren Minnick, Cameron Hart, Pearson Hart, Alan "AJ" Overbey, Dylan Minnick, Mackenzie Minnick, Jillian Rauch and Ashlyn Rauch. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 8, 2009, from 9:30 until 11 a.m. in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow. A graveside service will follow at Heritage Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
