Sherman Wesley Haga ATKINS, Va. Sherman Wesley Haga, age 76, passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at the Specialty Select Hospital in Bristol Tennessee. Mr. Haga was born in Smyth County to the late John Alexander Haga Sr. and Gracie Ann Holloway Haga and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Haga; and five sisters and a brother, Lizzie Cassell, Lessie Gullion Brock, Martha Haga, John A. Haga Jr., Dorothy Stoots Musser and Beatrice Blevins. He was a member of the Wytheville First Church of God and was a devout Christian and a fine, outstanding gentleman of the community. He worked at General Shale, in Atkins, Va., for 44 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves. He was an avid hunter and woodworker. He was a loving husband and father. Survivors include: his loving wife, Shirley Fishel -Haga; one brother, Robert E. "Gene" Haga and wife Eva, Flint, Mich; one step-daughter, Dr. Jennifer Fishel, Greenville, N.C.; two special nieces, MaryAnn Blevins, Emma Sexton; close hunting buddies, Lawrence Cregger, David King, Walt Atwell and Joel Hampton; brother-in-law, Joe Cheeks and wife Vicky; sister-in-law, Darlene Wolfe; many other nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at the Wytheville First Church of God 1135 Cove Road Wytheville, VA with Rev. Don Sunshine officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat with Military Honors rendered by the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post 4667. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the Wytheville First Church of God Building Fund, 1135 Cove Road, Wytheville, VA 24382. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com Bradley's Funeral Home, Marion is serving the family of Sherman Haga.

The Haga family, ..so sorry to hear of your loss. Sherman was a friend of my brother R.C. Hamby when they were growing up. R.C. always had a very high opinion of Sherman and spoke of him often.
