Shirley Ann "Aunt Shirl" Barnhart Owens HONAKER, Va. Funeral services for Shirley Ann "Aunt Shirl" Barnhart Owens will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Honaker High School Gymnasium with the Rev. Vonley Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in the McGlothlin Cemetery on Big A Mountain. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Employees of Honaker High School will serve as honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Shirley Ann "Aunt Shirl" Barnhart Owens, age 65, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 10, 2009, in a Lebanon, Va., hospital.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of shirley's passing. I cannot imagine honaker high school without her. She always had a kind word and smile for everyone she encountered and was so very good to everyone. I will keep her family and everyone at honaker high school and the community in my prayers as we all grieve the passing of such a truly special lady. I know she is in a better place but it it is still so hard for those she left behind.
