Shirley Gaynelle Salyers Brewster TAZEWELL, Va. Shirley Gaynelle Salyers Brewster, age 72, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol Tennessee. She was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Tazewell County, Va., and was a daughter of the late Clarence and Sylvia Dugger Salyers. She was a 1958 graduate of Richlands High School, and a member of the Baptist Valley Assembly of God. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold Salyers and Henry Salyers; four sisters, Ruth Hill, Opal Lester, Mildred Meadows, and Brenda Sutherland. Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 53 years, James "Jimmy" Brewster; two daughters, Joyce Moore and husband, Dewey of Salem, Va., and Rhonda Hager of Tazewell; two grandchildren, Jason Arnold and wife, Mary of Hardy, Va., and Brittany Harman and husband, T.J. of Tazewell; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Spencer, Bianca Harman, Olivia Arnold, and Gabrielle Arnold; one brother, Jim Salyers and wife, Linda of Christiansburg, Va.; one sister, Bonnie Byrd and husband, Curt of Pounding Mill, Va.; eight sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Salyers, Jo Salyers, Stella Brewster, Betty Roland, Connie Cundiff, Hazel Phillips and husband, Raymond, Hope Keene and husband, James, and Lynn Snapp and husband, Bo; one brother-in-law, Leroy Sutherland; one uncle, Curt Salyers; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends. Funeral services for Shirley Gaynelle Salyers Brewster will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, with the Rev. Keith Vinson and the Rev. Farley Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 3959 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018 or online at www.jdrf.org. Uncle Jimmy, Joyce, and Rhonda,

I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Shirley passing away. I told mom to tell you all that I was so sorry I couldn't be there with you all. She will be missed so much she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister n law and Aunt. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. If you need anything please let me know. Heaven has gained a wonderful Angel. I love you all.
