Thelma Powers

Thelma R. Beverly Powers COEBURN, Va. Thelma R. Beverly Powers, 79, passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at the Norton Community Hospital Norton, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford B. Powers Sr. She was a retired employee of the Wise County School System at the Coeburn High School and a member of the Coeburn Order of Eastern Star 153 and attended the South Coeburn United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, Clifford "Pete" Powers Jr. of Oak Harbor, Wash.; a daughter, Pam Sturgill and her husband Rick of Coeburn;; a granddaughter, Stephanie Sturgill Bryant and her husband Chris of Coeburn; a brother, Wade Beverly Jr. and his wife Adris of Bristol Tennessee.; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home, 310 Sixth St., NW, Coeburn, VA.. Order of Eastern Star Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. by the Coeburn Order of Eastern Star 153 and funeral services will follow with Pastor Johnny Adkins and Mike Meade officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at the Temple Hill Memorial Park Castlewood, V. The family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
