Our Uncle Thom was a son, a father, a brother, and a friend.
Our Uncle Thom was humble, honest, cordial, and loyal.
Our Uncle Thom left us beautiful memories that we will cherish for a lifetime. Memories such as his East Tennessee “southern twang”, his intriguing and capitivating stories, his NASCAR collection that every Nascar fan would appreciate, and last but not least, we will never forget his contagious, genuine smile.
Even though we were separated by the many miles between us we always kept our Uncle Thom in our hearts, in our minds and in our prayers.
Even though we are now separated by the many miles from here to eternity we will always keep our Uncle Thom in our hearts, in our minds and in our prayers.
We love you Uncle Thom always and forever.
PRAYER TO ST. THOMAS THE APOSTLE
Almighty and everliving God, who strengthened your apostle Thomas with sure and certain faith in your Son's resurrection: Grant us so perfectly and without doubt to believe in Jesus Christ, our Lord and our God, that our faith may never be found wanting in your sight.
Gracious Father, you empowered St. Thomas to make a personal confession of faith: "My Lord and My God!"
You sent St. Thomas the Apostle to us as a witness to Christ.
May we who follow his footsteps be strengthened in our faith in Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior.
Amen

I don't know if anyone can say enough to ease your pain and sorrow. Only God can comfort such heartache. It's always tragic when you lose a loved one, no matter the circumstances. I pray God will give your family that comfort, and compassion and understanding to all of us. I too attended Blountville High School. Many prayers are with your family. Eleanor Dixon White

Dear Cowan Family: Although I do not know your family; I wanted you to know you were in my thoughts and prayers. I noticed your loved ones age and his military service and I wanted you to know that I too have had relatives with similiar backgrounds (age/military). No one can know or understand certain circumstances in life that bring us to a situation. What we can do is remember to be compassionate for one another even in the most difficult of situations; to "...love one another: for love is of God..."(I John 4:7). I pray your family finds peace and comfort in the days to come. God Bless you.

I am so sorry to hear of your terrible loss. I will remember Tom as the kind hearted friend who I enjoyed spending time with at the lake camping in the early 90's. Though Tom wasn't able to ski with us he always enjoyed watching and riding in the boat. I am saddened to have missed the later years as I moved away, I am sure he will be missed. My prayers go out to you all.
