Thomas Denton "Red" Norris GLADE SPRING, Va. Thomas Denton "Red" Norris, 77, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Valley Health Care in Chilhowie. Red was born in Washington County, Va., on Jan. 6, 1932, to the late Jim Jack and Blanch Barbara Norris. He enjoyed riding and working with horses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Violet Norris. Red is survived by his wife, Doris Norris; one son, Tim Norris, Glade Spring; two brothers J.C. Norris of Glade Spring and Gene Norris and his wife Lucille of Meadowview; three sisters, Daisy Hawthorne and her husband Jim, Renie Church and her husband Charlie and Pansy Smith, all of Glade Spring; two grandchildren, Caleb and Joshua Norris of Glade Spring; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Red will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, with Pastor Richard Gunn officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Caleb Norris, Jake Norris, Adam Norris, Frank Norris, Robert Smith and King Terry Jr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, from 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 650 West 168th St., New York NY 10032. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff and nurses at Valley Health Care and Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
