Thurman Franklin Rose BRISTOL, Va. Thurman Franklin Rose, age 85, passed away Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at his home. He was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Mendota, Va., a son of the late William "Bill" and Jenny Osborne Rose. He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and retired from Bristol Concrete Products after 48 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Dorothy M. Hicks Rose; sisters, Emma Cook and Ruth Fleenor; and brothers, Gilmer Rose and Andrew Rose. Survivors include children, Barbara L. Shaffer and husband Kelly, Vicky L. Hardin, and David C. Rose and wife Cheri; grandchildren, Brandy M. Haynes and husband Ed, Tory N. Hudson and husband Chuck, Kala M. Rose and Robin D. Rose; great-grandchildren, Carson Haynes, Ethan Haynes, Daniel Hudson and Lauren Hudson; sister, Ruby "Cricket" Hall; special niece and nephew, Dot Hardesty and Tim Hall; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Crusenberry officiating. The burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Mountain View Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 p.m. prior to the service. Online condolences may be registered at www.weaverfuneralhome.net. Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home.
