Velma Beatrice Conley Riffey MARION, Va. Velma Beatrice Conley Riffey, age 85, formerly of Smyth County, Va., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, in the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. `She was born in Smyth County, Va., on July 18, 1925, to the late Ruth Conley. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Riffey; three sisters, Mae Riffey, Hazel Riffey and Nell Riffey; three brothers, Bill Conley, Little Buck Conley and Little Junior Conley; and a son-in-law, Albert Adams Sr. Mrs. Riffey was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dundalk, Md., where she had resided for many years. She is survived by: three sons, Paul Wayne Riffey and wife Linda, Essex, Md., William Eugene Riffey and wife Linda, Johnson City, Tenn., David Michael Riffey and wife Bren, Wytheville, Va.; two daughters, Phoebe Catherine Adams of Dundalk, Md., Betty June West andhusband Phillip, Dundalk; one brother, Jimmy Conley, Essex; four sisters, Peggy Green, Dundalk, Betty Ann Scott, Dundalk, Shirley Lilly, Graysonville, Md., Jean Cline, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel, 938 North Main St., Marion, VA 24354, with Pastor Steve Hutton officiating. Interment will follow in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Chilhowie, Va. The family will receive friends Saturday evening and Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Marion.
