I shall always remember Mr. Rector as he stood in the hallway of Rhea Valley Elementary greeting the children as they came thru the door. His love for them was written all over his face as he said hello and gently hugged them as they started their day. What a special gift to so many children. Bless your family at this time.

Sue and family, I was so sorry to hear about VT. There are so many things that I could say about my memories of him. I think that he was the only principal that the kids liked going to his office when they got in trouble. He always showed love to the kids, faculty and staff. The first time I saw him was at a track meet yelling, "RUN KELLY RUN". I appreciate how you two always remembered my birthday even after I retired. The last time I saw VT was at the post office and I got a hug. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this time.

My heart goes out to the family for your loss. Heaven has gained another beautiful angel in Mr. Rector. My prayers go out to you in this difficult time.
Love,

VT loved life as much as anyone I ever met. His laugh was infectious, and he was warmly affirming, especially for those he knew were down on their luck. In time the wonderful memories will overwhelm the aching sadness. All of you are in our prayers. I picture St Peter and VT looking for fishing worms and telling jokes right now in Heaven's very best stream. Jack Roper, Glade Spring

I still remember riding to Radford with V. T. so I could visit Ann and he could visit "his sweetheart". We had a flat tire on I-81 and were late. I remember him wearing a party hat and singing "Happy Birthday" to Mother in Chinese and many times together eating out. Good memories! I'm thankful there is no Alzheimer or Cancer in Heaven. V. T. and Ann are dancing!

Helen and I are so sorry to hear about VT's passing. I have never met a person that enjoyed life as much as VT. I can only imagine the large number of "laughs out loud'" that you all enjoyed with him. He truly loved his family and friends. When Roy Miller introduced him as a new young coach to the football team at PHHS in the late 60's he said that "what VT lacked in experience he would make up in enthusiasm". I thought that was a great description of VT. Hold on to the good memories. Please know that you and your family are in our prayers!

What wonderful times I had working for VT. He could truly take a good joke- from flamingos in his yard, four leaf clovers all over his office, and a golden throne for his retirment. I truly feel blessed to have known him. He will live long in the hearts of many.
