Walter Earl Camper BRISTOL, Tenn. Walter Earl Camper, age 80, passed away on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Bristol Nursing Home. He was a member of the VFW Patton Crosswhite Post 6975, served as exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 232, was a Master Mason of King Lodge 461 and a former member of the Eastern Star. He also was a Shriner. He was a Marine Corps veteran serving in the Korean War. He retired from Sherwin Williams after 42 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter H. and Lula Shaw Camper; his wife, Vivian Vance Camper; and a brother, Clarence Camper. Survivors include one sister, Mildred Whitaker of Bristol Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Judy Wilhorn and Hugh and Mary Kilgore. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, in Akard Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tony Trunell officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Glenwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will David Barker, Arnold Saunders, George Beard, Justin Oliver, Ralph Cairns, Rev. William Arnold, Gerald Hayes, Gene Whitaker and Dr. John Green. The family will receive friends from 6 -7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected] Akard Funeral Home, 1912 W. God bless his heart; I hope that he is happy again now he can be with sweet Vivian. I loved him at Sherwin-Williams and always got hugs and kisses at the office. He will be missed but never forgotten.
