Wesley "Wildman" Clendenin FLORENCE, S.C. Wesley G. "Wildman" Clendenin, 61, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Clendenin was born in Buchanan County, Va., a son of the late Elbert F. and Marie Ellis Clendenin. He was a coal miner for 14 years with Beatrice-Pocahontas in Keen Mountain, Va. He was a self-employed trucker for 35 years. He was a member of the Love Life Ministry in Darlington and loved bowling and watching wrestling. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a stepson, David Barton, who died in 2002. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Brenda Lee Salyers Clendenin of Florence; son, Wesley G. "Upie" Clendenin of Florence; daughters, Melissa (James) Dunn of Florence and Pam (Leonard) Wages of Effingham; stepsons, Beacher (Melissa) Barton of Bee, Va.. and Timothy Barton of Clinchco, Va.; brothers, Charles (Gerry) Clendenin and Forrest (Sandy) Clendenin, both of Florence; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home to assist the family. The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, Florence, SC. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Singleton Funeral Home in Cedar Bluff, Va. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va. The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Singleton Funeral Home in Cedar Bluff, VA.
