William F. "Hoolie" Wright JENKINS, Ky. William F. "Hoolie" Wright, 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol Tennessee. He was a graduate from Jenkins High School, a member and deacon of Glamorgan Chapel Church, a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force as a fighter pilot and was a retired mining engineer from Bethlehem Steel-Beth Energy Corporation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nannie Wright; several brothers and several sisters. Surviving are his loving wife of over 60 years, Naomi Pauline Wright; a sister, Edith Davis of Lexington, Ky.; several nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for William F. "Hoolie" Wright will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, Va., with Dr. Greg Sergent and Rev. Jeff Sams officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. till time of services at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, Va. Burial and graveside committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, Va. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Friday at 10:15 a.m. to go to the cemetery in procession. Sturgill Funeral Home, 1621 Norton Road, SW, Wise, VA 24293, is in charge of arrangements.
