ARLENE F. DENTON

Arlene F. Denton, age 86, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in Kennewick, at Canyon Lakes Restorative and Rehab Center.

Arlene was born in Fargo, North Dakota, on February 27, 1924. She attended school and graduated from Minneota High School in Minneota, Minnesota. She later joined the Youth Corps in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and trained to be a sheet metal worker for the shipyards. During spring break in 1943 the program was canceled and she was recruited to come to Hanford. There she worked as a payroll specialist for DuPont. In 1945 she transferred to Louisville, Kentucky, for a short time, returning to Richland and again worked at Hanford for several companies and had several clerical accomplishments in the payroll and mail services. It was while working at Hanford that she meet and later married Lawrence Denton.

She enjoyed world travel, supervising the work on their cabin, and many years of fishing camp at Williams Lake, though she did not like fishing.

Arlene is preceded in death by parents Theodore and Anna Furgeson and a brother Arby.

She is survived by husband Lawrence, son Terry Denton; grandsons Eric (Collette), Marc and (Juliette); and a great-granddaughter Cora.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2011, at Mueller's TriCities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union St. Kennewick.
