Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home

Longtime Tri-Cities resident, George N. Smith died peacefully on January 17, 2011, in his home at The Manor at Canyon Lakes. He was born on June 3, 1918 in Oshkosh, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Jewel Smith.

George 'Smitty' served proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII and moved to the Tri-Cities in 1951 where he had several careers as a machinist, boat and house builder, and ended his working years as a JC Penney's auto mechanic. He had an active retired life gardening and helping many with his building and mechanical skills.

George is survived by his niece, Martha Vomaski, California; niece, Sue Maloney (Ralph) and family, New York; nephew, Danny Lane (Janice) and family, Idaho. He will be remembered with much fondness by his great-nephews, Mark and J.J. Lane, and great-niece, Kathy Lane, and their children, Ryan and Mariko Lane, Sheli and Adam Morrell, Jessica and Zach Brenneman, Dan Lane, and Aaron Lane

A short graveside military service will be held on Friday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, WA (10th & Union).
