VERNON MOBLEY Obituary

Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home

Vernon Wayne Mobley, 77, passed away at home on March 26, 2011, after a long battle with cancer with his loving wife and daughter at his side.

He was born in Walla Walla, Washington, on September 9, 1933, and graduated from Wa-Hi in 1951. After high school he joined the Navy and served as an Airman in VF-151 Squadron during the Korean War. While still in the service, he met and married Barbra Burdin and upon his discharge returned to Walla Walla and started a family.

Vern moved to the Tri-Cities area in 1964 and worked as a plumber. He was a proud member of Local 598 for over 51 years. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and travel with his family. After his retirement, there were many trips to his favorite spots on the Oregon Coast with the travel trailer in tow. Vern loved photography and was a member of Kennewick First Lutheran Church.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. His grandchildren would tell you that they always felt loved and adored by him. From school functions, recitals, and little league games, he was always there. They all got to go fishing with Grandpa.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Vernon Mobley. He is survived by his wife, Barbra Mobley of 56 years; his son, Steven Mobley (wife Donna); his daughter, Tammy Holt (husband Phil); his daughter, Shari Pitzer (husband Dennis); his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all within the Tri-Cities area; and three brothers, Richard, Donald and Dennis.

Viewing will be Friday, April 1, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. Graveside services will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park on April 2, at 1:00 p.m. and memorial service will follow at First Lutheran Church, 418 N. Yelm Street, Kennewick, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Tri-Cities Hospice or the First Lutheran Church.

To some he was "Snooks", to some dad or grandpa Vern but to me he will always be my big brother. I know he's now with Dad and Mom and the Savior. He told me God was shingling his house in heaven. I miss you, bro.

Both of you have been missed at our monthly luncheons. For me, Christmas was not the same with out your warm smiles. Barb you are in my prayers. I look forward to seeing you soon and to seeing Vern later, when we will meet again at a mighty big banquet.
much love
