JOHN GREEN Obituary

March 13, 1935 - March 25, 2011

Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home

Jay was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He had many longtime friends he stayed in touch with throughout his life.

Jay served his country in the Army from 1953 to 1956 by becoming a vehicle mechanic inspector while serving in Germany and France. He loved fishing, hunting and teaching his children and grandchildren to love and respect nature and its beauty (which meant learning how to camp and fish). Jay told everyone he was one of the lucky few that loved their work. He was a heavy equipment operator and excelled in his field becoming a finish blade man and finish dozer operator. He used to say he 'played in the dirt' all day and got paid for it.

Jay loved to get together with his family and friends where he teased and joked with everyone. No one was exempt from his teasing so they were always prepared for a laugh. He loved playing cards and knew almost every card game. Jay loved his family and friends and they knew it.

Jay is survived by his wife, Pat, of 53 years; his daughters, Janine (husband Art Smith), Peggy (husband Rene' Vasquez), and Christy (husband Scott Caldwell); his 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ken and Wes (wife Phyllis); and sister Roberta. He has nieces and nephews he loved like his own children. He was preceded in death by one grandson.

Jay became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and knew he would be reunited with all of his family again.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2011, from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home in Pasco. Services will be held at the LDS Church Stake Center in Pasco, Friday, April 1,at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick.
