CHARLES HARVEY "CARLOS" BARR

CHARLES BARR Obituary

Charles 'Carlos' Harvey Barr died January 14, 2011. Charles Barr earned a political science master's degree from the University of Washington and a law degree from George Washington University. He began practicing law in the Tri-Cities in 1971, with a special focus on protecting rights of minorities and immigrants.

As a young man, he worked for the United States State Department as a Foreign Service Officer, with assignments in Sudan, Mexico, and Washington, D.C. Carlos was a court-certified Spanish translator and a devotee of Latin American culture. He will be missed for his intellectual curiosity, his off-beat humor, his ready smile, and his love for his family.

He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Martha Sanchez y Barr; his children: Patricia Barr, Victoria Barr, Chuck Barr (Kelly), Linda Craig (Rick) Bennett Barr, and Martha Barr; his stepchildren, Pamela Villasenor and Rusty Dampman; his mother, Zelma Turner; his sisters, Ruth Fearn and Alice Barr, and their families; and by his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A public memorial service will be held at The Cathedral of Joy, 1153 Gage Blvd., Richland, WA on Saturday, February 12, at 3:00 p.m.

So very sorry to hear of Charles passing, I knew and worked with him in Yakima while we were both going to YVJC and working at Shaw and Sons. May he rest in peace.
