Delbert Couch was dispatched to his final job Friday, March 11, 2011, at the age of 75 in Hermiston, OR. Delbert was born the youngest of seven children to Irwin J. and Lottie Couch in Hermiston, OR, on August 22, 1935. After attending school in Stanfield, OR, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After the war, Delbert worked several jobs, 122 to be exact. He married Sally Coleman in 1956 and had two children, Darrell and Tina. He was a hard worker and never turned down a second job to support his family. Some of the jobs he had were various dam jobs, the Minuteman missile, pipelines across the country (including the Alaskan) and even a Hollywood movie, Paint Your Wagon. He completed various projects on the Aleutian Islands and ended his construction career in Alaska. After many different adventures he and Sally retired in Hermiston, OR, where they kept an eye on Main Street.
He is survived by his sister, Betty Oakley, Florida; his brother, Donald Couch, Pendleton, OR; his son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Dana Couch, Kennewick, WA; his daughter, Tina Morrison, Moses Lake, WA; his granddaughter, Ingrid Blinn, Lewiston, ID; granddaughter, Lisa Corbin, Kennewick, WA; Abbey Rivera, Moses Lake, WA; Travis Morrison, Moses Lake, WA; Lynsey Morrison, Moses Lake, WA; and six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Couch; father, Irwin Couch; brother, Wayne Couch; sister, Ethel Littler; brother, Junior Couch; Louella Sternburg; son-in-law, Bob Morrison; and wife, Sally Couch. Delbert had many friends in the area.

Delbert will have graveside services at the Hermiston Cemetery on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Hermiston Community Center at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hermiston Hospice, 1050 West Elm Ave., Suite 220, Hermiston, OR.
