EDYTH HAMPTON Obituary

Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home

Edyth Darline Hampton died Sunday, January 16, 2011, at home surrounded by family and close friend, Mary White. She was born August 5, 1920, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Jasper 'Jack' Adams of Holt County, MO and the former Hermina 'Minnie' Andrienne Bantle of La Crosse, WI.

Edyth attended business school in Sheridan and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a court reporter. During World War II, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the Department of War. She met her husband, John 'Jack' P. Hampton at a USO dance and he subsequently proposed to her on the steps of the Capital Building. Upon his return from the Pacific Theater, they were married on March 25, 1946, in Helena, MT. From this union five children were born. Jack and Edyth moved to Kennewick in 1956. Edyth worked for Civil Service including the Pasco Post Office for over 20 years.

Edyth is survived by her brother, Dr. Herbert V. Adams and wife Margaret of Sheridan, WY; five children: John P Hampton, Jr. and wife Shelley of Everett, WA, Janice Hampton-Case and husband Frank of Pasco, Julia Schmidt and husband John of Kennewick, Judith Hampton and Bob Pierson of Kennewick, Jennifer Derrick of Kennewick; grandchildren Dennis Hiner, Jr., Erin Rosane and husband Steve, Isaac Case and Kasey Dearinger, Jordan Case and wife Shannon, Jessica McDonald and husband Jerrad, and Sarah Hampton; greatgrandchildren Harrisen Rosane, Lindsey Hiner, Dylan Hiner, Max Rosane, Taiton Gillespie, Garret Gillespie, River Case, and Amiah Woods; numerous nieces, nephews; and granddog Marlee.

Special thanks to her faithful and good friends, Jan Conatore and Mary White.

Edyth was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack; her parents; her brothers Clarence Hayden and Leo J. Adams; and her grandson Zak Hiner.

Edyth loved her family, attending sporting events where her children or grandchildren were playing, travel, fine dining, cooking, studying the Bible and gaming on the computer. Edyth's presence will be sorely missed as Mom, Grandma, GG and friend. Thank you for loving and sharing, for giving and caring. God bless you and keep you until we meet again.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, at 520 S. Garfield Street, Kennewick. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with reception following in Dillon Hall.
