James (Jim) William Crow was born in East Point, Georgia, on March 2, 1931. He passed away at Richland Rehabilitation Center on August 9, 2013.
Jim was the third child born to Gordon Banister Crow and Janie Elizabeth Hardigree Crow. In 1948, he graduated from Russell High School and joined the Navy at age 17. After serving four years on the aircraft carrier the USS Antietam during the Korean War, he disembarked in San Diego, California.
In 1952, Jim began attending Pepperdine College in Los Angeles, where he met Amelia (Midge) Hobson. They were married December 25, 1952, and had their first three children before Jim graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in 1956.
In 1956, the family moved to La Mirada, California, where Jim worked as a Planner for Autonetics. While living there, two more children were added to the family. Later the family moved to Yorba Linda, California, and Jim began his career with Rockwell International.
In 1978, Jim transferred with Rockwell to the Hanford Site in Richland, Washington.
In 1987, after a long battle with her health, his wife Midge died. In July 1993, Jim married Jayme Cook and moved to Kennewick. Jim retired from Westinghouse Hanford in 1994.
For the past five years Jim lived at Prestige Assisted Living where so many staff not only cared for Jim but cared about him.
Jim had a deep faith in God and responded to the message of the Gospel. He found peace in believing and following the life, message and example of Jesus.
Jim touched many with his kindness and sense of humor. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jayme; step-daughters Lindsay Burnett (Quinten) and Megan Cook; daughter Jonni Marcotte (Virgil); sons, Jim, Gordon (Sandy), Dan (Cheri) and Jeff (Kathy); brother Bob (Jenny) and sister Janie; two special young people he helped raise, Geniel and Brad; and grandchildren Cori Jean, Jonathan, Jacob, Eric, Mary, Joe, William, Joel, Andrew and Daisy; and great-grandchildren Gage, Chandler, Kolve and Crystal.
A memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Center, 9353 W. Clearwater Ave. in Kennewick on Saturday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m.
