MARIE MOTZKO Obituary
Kennewick, Wash.
Marie Susanna Motzko, age 93, of Kennewick, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2011. Marie was born October 1, 1917, in Columbus, Montana. When she was in the 4th grade, her family moved from Rapelje, Montana, to Laurel, Montana, and graduated from high school in 1936. She attended college at North West Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, for three years and later moved to Spokane, Washington, to work at the hospital. On September 14, 1948, Marie married her high school sweetheart, Phililp A. Motzko, in Laurel, Montana, and moved to Camp Hanford for work. Her proud moments were the birth of her two daughters, Charlene and RaNaese. In 1957, the family moved to Kennewick. Marie comes from a musical family and taught herself to play the piano at the age of 9. She could read music and also play by ear. She also taught herself to play the guitar, harmonica and accordion. Her husband played the mandolin, violin and drums. They loved to play music together for church services, first for the Church of the Nazarene in Richland and then at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kennewick, where they became members. She found much comfort from her membership in the LDS Church. She worked 35 years as a housekeeper and 10 years working at Lamb-Weston in Richland. She retired in 1982 and because of her love for God's natural creations and this country, she traveled through all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Marie loved playing the piano every day, as well as crossword puzzles, reading and crafts.
Marie is survived by her brother Zane (Linda) Dawson of Laurel, Montana; daughter Charlene (Russ) Johnson of West Richland; daughter RaNaese (Lloyd) Washam of Kennewick; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and two sisters. The family would like to thank all the nurturing staff at Life Care Center of Kennewick for making her final days comfortable.
