MELVIN POPE Obituary


Melvin Lee Pope, 78, passed away peacefully on 2-28-2011. Melvin was born May 4, 1932, to Ivey and Daisy Pope in Holly Spring, North Carolina. Melvin was preceded in death by both of his parents, two brothers, Ivey and Billy Pope, and a son, Paul David Pope.

Melvin worked many different jobs while trying to support his large family of seven children. He retired from the Plumber's and Steam Fitters Local 598.

Melvin is survived by two sisters, Virginia McNeil of Kennewick, WA; JoAnn (John) Osborn of Rainier, WA; and a brother Jerry Pope (Lynn) of Lingle, WY; daughters, Sheryl (Dennis) Shipman, Kennewick; Teressa (Ken) Williams, Pasco; Cinda (Mike) Guenther, Burbank; Wendy (Eric) Schutzs, Kennewick; Holly (Ray) Dilger, Finley; and son Melvin Pope of Everson, WA.

Melvin has 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews,

May our father rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord and know we will all be together one day,

Our family would like to send a special thanks to our sister, Cinda, who gave so much of her time away from her family to take such wonderful care of our father for the last 9 years.

Services will be at Kennewick Baptist Church, 2425 W. Albany Ave., Kennewick, WA, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4. Please join us in the celebration of his life.
