Verna Huntley Obituary

11/29/1934-1/30/2011

Verna Lee Huntley, 76, of Spokane, formerly a Tri-Cities resident of 43 years, went to her heavenly home peacefully Sunday, January 30, with family by her side. She was born in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, and had many adventures. Her nickname was 'Boots,' she loved to dance.

Early on, Verna Lee worked as a nanny, waitress, and employee of Skyway Luggage in Seattle. She retired from Griggs Dept. store in Pasco as a supervisor after many years. Later, she volunteered making phone calls to the elderly. Her best job was mom to her five children. She attended TOPS for 25+ years and made many wonderful friends. Verna Lee was a member of Faith Assembly Christian Center. She loved playing Bingo. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she dearly loved. They brought her much laughter and happiness. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Virginia and son-in-law Glen Hill. Survivors include sons Steve Huntley (Lapreal) of Ogden, Utah and William 'Bud' Huntley of Pasco; daughters Billene Westerman (John) of Valleyford, and Gayle Hawkinson of Kennewick; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 5th, at Faith Assembly Christian Center 1800 Rd 72 in Pasco, WA at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Diabetes Association. The family thanks the staff at Parkway Village and Avalon Care Center for their loving care of our mom and grandma.
