Haven of Rest
Larry went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 30, 2013. He was born on April 5, 1934 in Tacoma, WA. to Homer and Rhoda Grace Laffaw.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sally, daughter Julie (Jerry) Allyne of Bellevue, WA., daughter, Jill (Jim) Lee, of Marysville, WA., and grandchildren Justin (Alex), Jaime, Jordan, Joshua Larry, Jeremiah, Kayla, and great-grandchild Silas Laffaw Allyne.
He was a hardworking and loving husband, father, and "Bapa". He loved music, golf, sailing, skiing, grandkid time, and was active in his church.
He graduated from Peninsula HS in 1952. Then he went on to the University of Washington where he met the love of his life Sally. It was an honor for Larry to serve his country in the Navy during and after college. He got a degree in Business and started working at Sears after he married Sally in 1958. They were transferred from Seattle to Kent, Spokane and in 1973 they moved to Longview where he loved his job as the Sears store manager. He was transferred to Richland where he managed the Pasco store and then the Columbia Center store.
Larry enjoyed time in Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, United Way and golfing at Meadow Springs CC. When he retired alive at 55, they moved closer to family at McCormick Woods in Port Orchard and spent their winters in Tuscon.
He will be missed by so many friends in Port Orchard and the Tuscon area. We would like to thank family and friends for their support and for the nurses at Tacoma General for the compassion and care they provided Larry the last week of his life.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life service at First Lutheran Community Church in Port Orchard on Friday, August 9 at 12:00 noon. He will be buried with military honors at Haven of Rest, Gig Harbor. Remembrance donations can be made in his name to First Lutheran Community Church, 2483 Mitchell Rd SE, Port Orchard, WA 98366 or the
