Alice (Carr) Kilpatrick, born on February 1, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio, died peacefully at age 95 on February 11, 2018 in Lafayette, California. She was the beloved wife of John Kilpatrick, her high school sweetheart, who died in 1991. John and Alice raised their family in Ohio and then in Barrington, Illinois, where they became active in community affairs and she blossomed in her midlife career as a teacher and a school psychologist. At the age of eighty, Alice left the midwest for California. She is survived by her daughter Blair Kilpatrick (Steve Tabak) of Berkeley, California, daughter Laurie Kilpatrick (Glen Misek) of Glenview, Illinois, and son Rod Kilpatrick of San Francisco; grandsons Alec Tabak (Victoria Bekiempis) of New York, Nate Tabak (Hana Marku) of Toronto, Ryan Misek (Katie) of Chicago, and Jon Misek (Amanda) of Chicago; great-granddaughter Elizabeth Misek of Chicago; brother EJ Carr (Ione) of Vero Beach, Florida; and special niece Leslie Carr (Harry Levy) of New York.
Alice supported many progressive and humanitarian causes and in her later years became a hospice volunteer. The family invites donations in her name to two special places: Hospice of the East Bay in California, who provided such compassionate care in her final eighteen months of life; and the Chicago Botanic Garden, where a private celebration of life is planned for later in the year. Current arrangements are being handled by the Trident Society in Walnut Creek, California, where Alice lived prior to her final illness.
