Anthony Eugene Tobin COHOES - Anthony Eugene Tobin, 73, entered into eternal rest on May 20th, 2013 at his Cohoes home in the presence of his loved ones. Born on November 11, 1939 in Troy, he was the son of the late Anthony J. Tobin (Tabin) and Sophie Lewandowsky of Cohoes and the brother of the late Jane Muscatello of Cohoes. Anthony was baptized on December 3rd, 1939 at St. Michael's Parish in Cohoes and grew up on Champlain Street. He graduated from LaSalle Institute in 1957 as a first sergeant. Anthony served in the US Coast Guard with honor from 1958 to 1962. He made his career at GE Waterford retiring after 40 years of service in 2003 as a member of the pipe fitters union. Anthony was a devoted son and spent many years caring for his mother. He was a dedicated and meticulous worker, an outdoorsman and enjoyed road trips on his motorcycle. He was always willing to help and show others how to accomplish a task in his own particular way. Anthony is survived by his seven children, Terri, Gary, Sharon and Allison of California and Lynn, Tony and David of New York. Anthony also leaves 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as well as his uncle Frank Lewandowsky and his favorite aunt, Helen Famulare. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Anthony's special helpers who loved and cared for him as if he were their own throughout his final years. The family would also like to thank Dr. Costello for his care and dedication and the staff at the Eddy VNA and Community Hospice for their assistance. Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 23, from 4pm to 8pm at the Marra Funeral Home Cohoes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael's Parish Paige Ave. Cohoes at 9am on Friday, May 24th with internment to follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Waterford. Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice Foundation, 295 Valley Blvd., Renseselaer, NY 12144.
