Joan Philo EAST GREENBUSH - Joan Maney Philo, 82, lifelong resident of Troy and Fourth Avenue in Lansingburgh, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her family at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home in East Greenbush on Monday, December 22, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born and raised in Lansingburgh, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Catherine Sanvidge Maney and the beloved wife of the late Donald E. Philo. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. She was a homemaker and had retired in 1997 from Capital Off Track Betting in Lansingburgh where she had been a Cashier since 1978. Joan loved to crochet and bowl and had been a league member at Alpha Bowl in Lansingburgh. She was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh and in her younger years, she sang in the old time variety musical shows put on by the Church. She loved vacationing at the ocean. After retirement, she enjoyed bus trips and travelling with dear friends. She loved walking and spending time with her family. Devoted mother of Cindy A. Philo Harris of Latham and Robert T. Philo of Troy, sister of the late Thomas Maney who is survived by his wife Joan Maney of Saratoga, cherished grandmother of David J. (Gerilyn) Harris of San Diego, CA and Jonathan P. Harris of Stillwater, OK, adored great grandmother of Luke Harris of San Diego, CA, best friend of Barbara Gibbs of Lansingburgh, also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street in Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00pm. Interment will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery, Troy. Joan’s daughter would like to thank The Evergreen Commons nurses and aides for their tender and compassionate care of her mom during the last days of her life. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association NENY Chapter, The Meadows, Suite 2, 140 County Highway 33 West, Cooperstown, NY 13326 or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, in memory of Joan Philo.
