Benjamin H. Kelts

Benjamin H. Kelts WATERFORD - Benjamin H. Kelts, 73, of South St. died Sunday June 9, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy he was the son of the late Benjamin B. and Sophia A. Placzkowski Kelts. A book dealer in the area, Ben was also very active in the community having served on the Waterford-Halfmoon Board of Education, the Village of Waterford Board of Trustees as well as having held several other village positions over the years. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam era. Ben considered himself “A Philosopher and Sometimes Wise Man” Ben was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Hauke Kelts and was the devoted father of Benjamin W. Kelts, Kathryn E. Kelts (Jason), Victoria S. Kelts (Jason Rich) all of Waterford and the late Rebecca S. Kelts. He was like a father to James G. Corrigan (Kristin) of Sault Ste Marie, MI and Paul M. Gervasio of Waterford. He was the brother of Patricia A. Nelsen (Aanan) of Colonie and William M. Kelts (Pamela) of Waterford. Also surviving are his grandchildren Alexander V. Kelts and Benjamin P. Rich as well as several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 36 3rd St., Waterford. Relatives and friends may visit with Ben's family on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford.
