Joseph C. Beaudoin Sr. Troy- Joseph C. Beaudoin Sr., 84, a longtime resident of Pittstown and more recently Troy, died, peacefully, Monday, January 6, 2014, at his residence at Diamond Ridge, with his family by his side, following a short illness. Born in Troy, April 16, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Mary L. (Green) Beaudoin and for over 58 years the husband of Jessie M. (Sheffer) Beaudoin of Troy who survives. Mr. Beaudoin attended Wynantskill District Schools and began his career as an auto mechanic in a garage in Johnsonville. At the age of 23, he was inducted into the United States Army
and served in the Korean conflict
with the 34th Infantry and Tank Support Unit from 1952 until 1954. At the time of his honorable discharge he had earned the rank of Corporal. In 1955, the “Junk man” as he was affectionately known to his family and friends because of his love of collecting cast off items, married Jessie, established a home in Johnsonville and was employed as a heavy duty mechanic by the Town of Pittstown Highway Department. After 38 years of service to the Town, he retired in 1993. Mr. Beaudoin was a member of the American Legion in Wynantskill, the Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Company and active in several bowling leagues. Among his colorful pastimes and hobbies he enjoyed riding his Indian motorcycle and his snowmobile, playing horseshoes with friends, camping, fishing and bowling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Joseph C. and Sue Beaudoin Jr. of Brunswick, Joyce Cooke and Jerry of Watervliet, Marjorie and Edward Fredericks of Ballston Spa, Lori Loya of Melrose and Kevin and Joan Beaudoin of Clifton Park, seven grandchildren, Joseph, Patrick, “C.J.” Christopher, Tiffany, Amanda, Brittany and Laura, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, a son, the late Robert J. Beaudoin, a son-in-law, Wayne Loya, two brothers, George L. Beaudoin Sr. and Oliver J. Beaudoin Sr., a sister, Mary L. Beaudoin Krus, and a grandson, Kyle F. Moquin all predeceased him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at the Howard B. Tate and Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, in Raymertown. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home beginning at 2:15 P.M. Burial with military honors will take place in the future at the Saratoga National Veteran’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
