Marion E. O'Donnell

Marion E. O'Donnell BRUNSWICK - Marion E. (Stevens) O'Donnell, 87, formerly of Cropseyville and McChesney Avenue died peacefully Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Van Rensselaer Manor with her loving family by her side, following a long illness. Born September 20, 1925 in Elmira, Mrs. O'Donnell was the daughter of the late Louis and Ruth (Brink) Stevens and for over 42 years the wife of the late James O'Donnell III who predeceased her in 1989. Mrs. O'Donnell attended Saratoga City Schools and for many years was a home maker raising her family and caring for her husband. She was a member of the Brunswick Elks Ladies Auxiliary, the Ladies Home Bureau, and a poll watcher during elections at the White Lily Lodge in Cropseyville. In her quiet time she enjoyed the hobbies of knitting and sewing clothes, vegetable gardening and watching the Yankees, Giants and NASCAR. Mrs. O'Donnell is lucky to have survived her four sons, Richard H. O'Donnell of Buford S. Carolina, Frederick A. (Bonnie) O'Donnell of Poestenkill, Edward S. (Kimberly) O'Donnell of Brunswick, William J. O'Donnell (Vanessa Dixon) of Buford, S. Carolina, and 2 daughters, Patricia A. (John) Curran of Brunswick and Karen L. Mason (Scott Blair) of West Sand Lake, a brother, Robert (Louise) Stevens, four sisters, Betty Butterfield of Saratoga, Velma Wilson of Brunswick, Linda (Ken) Budinger of Candor, and Evelyn (Ron) Hover of Alpine CA, nine grandchildren, Erik, Ryan, Erin, Jamie, Chase, Patrick, Brendon, Eliza and Isabelle, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her late parents and husband, Marion was predeceased by a brother and sister, the late Harold Stevens and Helen Shuler, brothers-in-law Tim Shuler, Elbie Butterfield and Ron Wilson, and a beloved grandson, Jacob O'Donnell. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown with Rev. Stephen Cordes officiating. Burial will follow in Eagle Mills Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, June 16, 2013 from 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. At the request of Marion's family memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Resident's Programs Fund, c/o Van Rensselaer Manor , 85 Bloomingrove Drive, Troy, New York 12180 in memory of Marion E. O'Donnell. The O'Donnell family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the C-3 nurses and staff, and especially Jamie, at Van Rensselaer Manor for their excellent care, love and support during Marion's recent illness.
