Mary W. “Sue” Wright CANASTOTA - Mary W. “Sue” Wright, 81, of Canastota, and formerly of Troy, died on Sunday, July 21, 2013, surrounded by family at the home of her daughter, due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on May 21, 1932, in Troy, NY, the daughter of Francis “Ted” and Katherine McVeigh Williams. Sue spent her early years in Schaghticoke, NY, graduating from Hoosic Valley High School in 1948. She later graduated from the NYS College for Teachers in Albany in 1952. Sue then moved to Philadelphia, NY, where she was a business teacher for 3 years and moved to Canastota in 1955 and continued her business teaching career at Canastota High School for 41 years retiring in 1996. Sue was an avid reader and enthusiast of television murder mysteries and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling all over the US with her family in their camper, and after retirement, she traveled with Lee and his “harem” (Sue, Helen Martin, and Marj Peterson). She has been a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota and is a former member of the former Canastota Lionettes Club and the Canastota Retired Educators at Work. Sue married Leland G. Wright on August 9, 1958, in Schaghticoke, NY. Lee died on October 31, 1997. She was also predeceased by daughter, Sharon Daisernia in 2007, and her brother and sister-in-law, Harold “Squeak” and Sophia “Tootie” Williams of Schaghticoke, NY, in 2012 and 2006, respectively. Surviving are: three sons and their spouses, Gregory and Diane Wright of Cazenovia, Steven Wright and Ann Blasier of Canastota, Robert and Rose Wright of Oneida Castle; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Chris Winters, Gail and Jeffrey Tianello, and Cindy and Dan Kolceski, all of Canastota; fourteen grandchildren, Tracey Gordon, Adrienne Daisernia, Michelle (Keith) Kinney, Chris Winters II, Dawn Agans, Karen Wright, Margaret Wright, Tess Wright, Justin (Amy) Tianello, Courtney Tianello, Andrew Kolceski, Erin Kolceski, Nicholas Wright, and Emily Wright; eight great grandchildren; several cousins, and a special niece, Elsie Wright, of Cortland. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at St. Agatha's Church, Canastota, where a funeral mass will be held. Entombment will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to ElderHaven Adult Day Care, 309 S. Peterboro St., Canastota, NY, 13032, or Greater Lenox Ambulance Service, PO Box 382, Canastota, NY, 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
