COHOES - Rose N. (Surzyn) Walsh, 81, died Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Eddy Village Green nursing home in Cohoes.
Born October 14, 1932, in Cohoes, N.Y., Rose was educated and lived in Cohoes her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Regina Bressette and Casimir Surzyn.
Rose worked in a variety of positions, including the family business, Walsh Knitting Mill, and most recently at the State Bank of Albany; all within Cohoes. Mrs. Walsh was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish (formerly St. Marie's).
She was married for 54 years to the late Robert E. Walsh.
Rose is survived by her brother, Ralph (Doris) Surzyn; her nephew, Michael (Julie) Surzyn; nieces Carolyn (Ronald) Catalano and Victoria Osen. She is also survived by her cousin, Donald (Debra) Bressette (and family); grandnephew Ronald A. Catalano; and grandniece Christine M. Catalano.
Rose was known to those close to her as "Junie". Junie was very involved in helping raise her nephews/nieces/grandnephew/grandniece/cousins. Junie loved them all like they were her own children. From fixing lunches for school to vacations in Atlantic City, there are numerous memories, and our "Junie" will be sorely missed.
Her family extends a very special thank you to the staff of the Eddy Village Green Nursing Home, House 16, for all their love and support.
A funeral service from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial from the Church of the Holy Trinity in Cohoes will be held at 11 a.m.
