Edward J. "Hat" Campbell Jr. Obituary
Edward J. “Hat” Campbell, Jr. TROY - Edward J. “Hat” Campbell, Jr., 81, passed away December 5, 2013 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Edward J. Campbell, Sr. and Mary Donnelly Campbell and husband of the late Murine Libby Campbell. He attended Sacred Heart School and Troy High School. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1951-1955. Upon returning from service, he had been employed by Sliter’s Dairy, then Borden’s Dairy, then went into business for himself starting Campbell’s Dairy where he was employed for 26 years until his retirement. Ed was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the American Legion Post in Wynantskill. He enjoyed bowling, coached Little League and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Ed is survived by his beloved son, David Campbell; a sister, Rose Campbell; a brother, William (Kay) Campbell; sisters-in-law, Joan Campbell and Peggy Libby Ryan; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by a son, Edward Campbell III; infant daughters, Debbie Ann and Debbie Marie Campbell; and his siblings, Peggy Diamond, John Campbell, Joan Bailey, Veronica Goodwin, and Bernice Campbell. The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:30 am from the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Ave., at Parkview Court, Troy and at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church, Troy where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Ave., Troy, NY 12180.
