Lawrence S. Johnson ALBANY - Lawrence S. Johnson, 82, of Albany died April 12, 2013. Educated in the Troy school system, he was the 1949 Troy High School Athlete of the Year and in 1996 was inducted into the Troy High School Hall of Fame. Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the 505th Air. Larry was the son of Nora Nina and Stonewall Johnson and was united in holy wedlock with Willie Mae Johnson (Ball) for 47 years before her passing in 2007. Larry achieved an Associates Degree in Applied Science from the Hudson Valley Technical Institute in 1956. He was employed for over 30 years as a Letter Carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Quarterback Club and Kingsmen Club, and helped found and contributed to several community organizations. Survivors include his two sons, Craig Johnson (Patricia) and Daniel Johnson; granddaughter Aliyah Johnson and grandson Naim Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews. He will be cremated and his ashes buried on Saturday, 11:00a.m. at Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Ave., Albany. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
