William Richard Wells ORMOND BEACH, FL - William Richard Wells, 76, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2013 in his home, surrounded by those who love him. Born in Troy, NY, to John and Ruth Wells, he lived the early part of his life in the Troy area until warmer weather beckoned and he moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Upon retirement, he chose to be near the ocean in Ormond Beach. Bill, a Mason, was an amazingly gifted individual who built two houses during his lifetime, both of them for his family. He loved to ride motorcycles and even raced his motorcycle in Japan while serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed boating, which afforded him the opportunity to scuba dive and fish. In his earlier days, he worked as a truck driver and later as a supervisor for the Jacksonville water department. Known for his ability to tell a great story, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and loved ones. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Doris Wells, and adoring daughters, Dana Wells, Rachel Gorenflo (along with husband, Clif), and Nicole Wells. He is also survived by his grandsons, Kevin White, Colin White, Ledge Gorenflo, and William Gorenflo as well as his sisters, Carolyn Hasslinger and Dorothy Hallenbeck, along with many nieces and a nephew. A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 1780 Ocean Shore Blvd., Ormond Beach. The family requests that memorial donations may be made to AMVETS, 4647 Forbes Blvd., Lanham, MD, 20706, in Bill’s name in lieu of flowers .Condolences can be left for the family at www.dalewoodwardfuneralhomes.com
