Alice Buczak Jadlos TROY - Alice Buczak Jadlos, 96, a resident of the Van Rensselaer Manor, died peacefully on April 8, 2014. Alice was born in Troy and was the daughter of the late Antonia and Michael Buczak. She graduated from Troy High School class of 1935. Alice worked for 10 years as a secretary to the district manager of the United Eastern Coal Corporation. In 1941 she married her loving husband Michael Jadlos. Alice stayed home to raise her three children until 1969, she then returned to the work force for Rensselaer County Dept. of Social Services until she retired in 1983. She was proud of the fact that she was a Trojan for all her life. Alice loved spending summer vacations on Cape Cod and in Maine with her family. She always said “I love words” and demonstrated this by doing a crossword puzzle every day. She also loved maps and geography and she enjoyed reading the Troy Record Daily in order to stay current on world and local events. A devoted, caring, loving grandmother her family always came first. Most of all Alice was a kind and considerate loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Van Rensselaer Manor. The exceptional and extraordinary care that was given to our mother was beyond words. She truly cared about, all and had a smile for each and every person came in contact with. For that we thank them all. Alice is pre-deceased by her sister Olga Opar, her brother William and her sister Jane Raible. Mother to Dr. Thomas M. Jadlos, (Kathy), Susan M. Jadlos and Janet J. Shaye (Steven). Grandmother to Tom (Tracie) Jadlos, Christopher (Christina) Jadlos, Andrew Jadlos, Kathleen (Robert) Whelan, Andrea Shaye (Derick Eng), and Aimee Shaye. Devoted great grandmother to Allison, Lauren and Jack Jadlos, Ryan and Abby Whelan and Emilia Eng. Special Aunt to Marie Spore, Michael Opar, Janet Snyder, and Mary Anne and Marita Jadlos. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 am from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 3rd St. Troy, and at 9:30 in St. Michael the Archangel Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
