MECHANICVILLE - Anthony J. Cafararo, formerly of Jay Street in Waterford, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2012, at his sister Ann Cafararo's residence on Leonard Street in Mechanicville. Ann was his special caretaker for many months. He was 72.

Born July 7, 1940, in Mechanicville, he was the twin son of the late Earl and Vista (Favichio) Cafararo. He was born and raised in Mechanicville and educated at Mechanicville High School, graduating with the class of 1958.
Anthony served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. Following his service, he attended the Royal Barber School in Schenectady. In 1969, he began his employment as a barber at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy for many years until his retirement.
Anthony was a member of the Waterford-Cohoes Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh organization.
Survivors include his son, Anthony J. Cafararo Jr. of Clifton Park; his daughters, Danielle (Patrick) Cassin of Latham and Renee (Robert) Hall of Valatie; his grandchildren, Emma Cassin, Lucas Cassin, Marcus Cassin, Mellina Cassin, Joshua Hall, Michael Hall, Robert Hall III and Courtney Hall; his sisters, Connie (Ray) Callanan of Ballston Lake and Carol (Ken) Baker; his twin brother, John (Karen) Cafararo; and his special loving caregiver, Ann Cafararo, all of Mechanicville. He is also survived by his former wife, Carolyn Cafararo of Clifton Park.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Christ Sun of Justice at the Chapel and Cultural Center, 2125 Burdett Ave., RPI, Troy.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at the Christ Sun of Justice at the Chapel and Cultural Center. Burial with military honors will be held at noon at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery following the service.
