Donna Wheelock Obituary
TROY - Donna DeLee Wheelock, age 76, widow of the late Robert E. Wheelock Sr., died on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Marion Nash DeLee. She grew up in Lansingburgh and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1955.
She worked for 25 years for the Cardiology Department at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, retiring in 1998. She lived for many years in Brunswick, where she and her late husband raised their family. She was very active in the George Washington School District and was a member of the school board. She has lived in Highpointe in Troy for the past 20 years. Donna served as an Elder and Deacon for the First Reformed Church in Wynantskill where she was a active member for over 40 years. She loved to knit and used those skills to knit many prayer shawls as well as baby hats for local hospitals. She loved her yearly trip to Wells Beach, Maine with her family and special friend Mary Bissett.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Medical ICU at Albany Med and Dr. Rachel Hinerman and Dr. Scott Beegle for the kind care they gave Donna.
She is survived by her children, Robert E. (Alison) Wheelock Jr. of Addison, Texas, Timothy J. Wheelock of Troy, Tracy (Cornelius) Whalen of Brunswick and Marybeth Wheelock of Troy, her grandchildren, Stephanie, Connor and Matthew Whalen and Robert, Lauren and Christopher (Brenna) Wheelock, her uncle, Theodore (Patricia) Anderson of Hoosick Falls and her niece, Barbara Jean Guyette of Loudonville. She was predeceased by her brother, John DeLee.
The funeral will be from the First Reformed Church, 413 Main Ave. Wynantskill on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wynantskill. Calling hours will be at the church on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
