Eleanor A. Cohen MENANDS – Eleanor A. Brennan Cohen, 80, widow of E. Edmond “Eddie” Cohen, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Watervliet on September 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Martin J. and Mary E. Pazzo Brennan. Eleanor was raised in Watervliet and graduated from St. Patrick's School and Catholic Central High School in Troy. Eleanor moved to Menands in 1965 after her marriage. She was an active member of St. Joan of Arch Church since 1965. She found solace and comfort by attending daily mass. She taught Religious Education for many years. She was part of the Renew program and was involved in the grieving support group. Eleanor's passion for cooking carried over to her providing home cooked meals at the rectory for St. Joan of Arc Church, Parkside Pre-School and Menands School. For the past four years, she has been a resident of the Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush. The family would like to thank the staff for their kind and attentive care. She is survived by two sons, Andrew E. (Kimberly) Cohen of Colonie and Mark E. Cohen of Clifton Park; five cherished grandchildren, Brittany and Ashley of Colonie, Daniel, Keira and William Cohen of Clifton Park. She is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” (Kenneth) McKeon and Joan (Sam) Prock of Myrtle Beach, SC. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Kerriann Coleman Cohen who died in 2006, her brother, Stephen (late Shirley) Brennan, her sisters, Peggy (late William) Gracon, Mae (Walter) Muir, Kay (Barry) Bayly and her infant sister Regina Brennan who died in infancy in 1943, two nephews, Marty Brennan and Bill Gracon. She is also survived by several nieces,nephews, grandnieces,grandnephews and many cousins and very special and caring friends. The funeral will be Monday at 8:15 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 9:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Church, Menands where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 pm.
