MALTA - Guido G. Pallozzi, 89, of Malta and formerly of Waterford died Friday, July 26, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Waterford, he was the son of the late Luigi and Filomena DeCaesre Pallozzi.
Guido was employed for 36 years by Graves and Rogers Liquor Distributors and retired in 1989. He was a former Waterford town justice and was a 50-year exempt member of Kavanaugh Hook and Ladder Co. in Waterford.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II in the European Theater. He was a former prisoner of war and had received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Clusters on two occasions, having been injured in Anzio and then in France. He also received a Unit Bronze Star, a Presidential Citation of the 45th Division.
He was a member of the Northeast New York Chapter of Ex-Prisoners of War and had served as a director and chaplain, a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter No. 17, a charter member of the VFW Waterford Memorial Post 5800 as well as a member and trustee of the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery Support Committee. He had also volunteered at Stratton V.A. Hospital in Albany. In addition, Guido was a former member of the Waterford K of C Council 237.
Guido is survived by his loving wife, Bernice Whitwell Pallozzi. He is the beloved father of Daniel Pallozzi and Jeanne Bowen (Jim) of Waterford and the late Lawrence (Larry) Pallozzi and stepfather of Terry A. Ashe (Volney) of Clifton Park, Mark R. Lapham of Stillwater and Amy R. Brimmer (Timothy) of Gansevoort. He is brother of Orlando J. Pallozzi of Delmar, the late Gene, Phillip, Albert and Teresa Pallozzi and Amelia Villa. He is the proud grandfather of Jamie L. and James L. Bowen and is "Poppa" to Jason M. and Lindsey N. Wheeler, and Courtney P., Mary M. and Devin T. Brimmer. Also surviving are his step-great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Wheeler and Jason M. Wheeler Jr. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, from Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Route 32), Waterford, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford.
Interment with military honors will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 29, at the funeral home.
