Helen C. Smith EAST GREENBUSH - Helen Larkin Smith, 89, former Troy Tower resident, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Evergreen Commons. Born in Waterford, she was the daughter of the late John C. Larkin and Katherine E. Kirby and wife of the late Kenneth F. Smith. Raised and educated in Troy, she was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School. Helen was a legal secretary for the former City Court Judge Dan G. Farano for 25 years and later worked for St. Mary's Hospital Admitting Office. She was a member of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and the Rensselaer County Legal Secretary Association. Survivors include a daughter Lucinda E. Maya (James Djernes) of Troy, two sisters Arlene E. Kehn (late Charles) of East Greenbush, Katharine M. Rose (Hardy) of AZ, grandson Michael W. Barnes of Clifton Park, step grandchildren Stacey and Erica Djernes, great grandchildren Makayla Barnes, Colbi and Kaleb Kromrey and Logan Roulier, two nieces and a nephew. Helen was predeceased by her son David J. Elicker who died in 1995. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. Calling hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at the Gardner Earl Crematorium, Troy.
