J. John McGuirk Averill Park - J. John McGuirk 78 a life long resident Averill Park passed into eternal rest Wednesday afternoon at The Albany Medical Center ,surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Troy and was the son of the late Joseph and Olga Lasky McGuirk. John graduated from LaSalle Institute in Troy and attended Siena College in Loudonville. He retired from The Watervliet arsenal and was currently employed by The NY State Dept. of Environmental conservation .John served his country during the Korean War and was a veteran of the United States Air force .He was a member of the Troy Elks and a Communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Troy .John is survived by his brothers and sisters , Theresa ( the late Edward J. ) Bulger of Troy , Robert ( Arlene ) McGuirk of Manville NJ ,Joan ( Jacob ) Warnken of Troy ,Carol ( James ) Constanza of Rensselaer (North Greenbush) and M.Sandra McGuirk –Fortin of Brunswick . He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral service for John will be held on Monday morning at 9:15 am from The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 Third St. Troy and at 10 :00 am at St Joseph's Church in Troy where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-7PM Interment will be held at St. Henry's Cemetery in Averill Park
