James Bishop Obituary
James Saunders Bishop Niskayuna- James Saunders Bishop, died Tuesday July 17, 2012 at Ellis Hospital, after a short illness. He was born in Butler, Missouri on July 29, 1937, the son of Lyman Bishop and Magdalene Bartlett. Jim graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1959 . He was a member of the LXA fraternity. Jim was a project manager at the General Electric Co. for 30 years in generator engineering and PEO. He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club. Jim owned the 360 acre Stoneridge Farms in Altamont and he enjoyed working on his farm and traveling with his wife Leona to Thailand and Italy. They also loved taking their motor home to Alaska and Montana and all across the United States. Jim was special and will be greatly missed for his enduring positive attitude, work ethic, endless energy, and generosity to his family. Jim is survived by: his beloved wife of 53 years, Leona Kania Bishop, whom he married June 21, 1959; his daughter, Heather Bishop and daughter, Lisa Bishop Elhardt and her husband Bob; two devoted grandsons, Patrick Elhardt and Michael Elhardt of Stanwood, Washington. Jim is survived by nieces and nephews and is predeceased by his brother, Lyman Bishop. Calling hours will be held Saturday July 21 from 10am to 1pm at Guilderland's DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike (just west of Carman Rd. Rt. 146).
