MOYNIHAN, JOHN WESTERLY R. I. - John "Jack" L. Moynihan, 79, of Westerly Rhode Island and formerly West Hartford, beloved husband of Patricia "Trish" (Yaiser) Moynihan, left his well lived life on January 6, 2011, in Westerly, RI where he lived for the past several years to be closer to his three children. Jack was born in Troy, NY the son of the late John L. Moynihan, Sr and Marjorie (Lindsey) Nichols. He received a golf scholarship to Siena College in Albany, NY and later served in the US Army. Jack went on to a successful career in sales. Some of the companies he worked for during his career include: Quikrete Companies, Glens Falls Lehigh Cement Company. Golf was a passion that he turned into a career both during his sales years and after his retirement. Some golf highlights are three Eagles 1 round-Wampanoag CC, W. Hartford, CT. Five Holes in One-Ekwanok CC, Manchester, VT/CC of Troy, Troy, NY/Saddlebrook CC, Saddlebrook, NY/Wampanoag CC, W. Hartford, CT (2) . In 1956 he competed in the USGA Open Championship, The Country Club of Brookline, MA. He was the NYS Champion in 1959 and the NYS ENY Champion in 1960. In 1967 he competed in the USGA Open Championship, The Country Club of Brookline, MA. Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his three children: Kim Moynihan- Giachello of Somers, CT and Westerly, RI; John Moynihan, III of Westerly, RI and Susan Moynihan of Westerly, RI; two grandchildren: Leah and John Michael Giachello of Somers, CT; his brothers Tom Moynihan of Scottsdale, AZ, Michael Moynihan and his wife Mary of Sebring, FL and his sister Pamela Nichols of NY, NY.
