John Peak Obituary
John H. Peak Cohoes – John H. Peak, 86, of Dunsbach Ferry Road, Cohoes died at Hudson Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Albany on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 after a long illness. Born in Watervliet, educated in Cohoes and was the son of the late Frank S. and Florence Stacey Peak. He retired from North Colonie School District Transportation after 31 years of service. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his camp in Taberton Mountain for many years. After retirement, as a hobby he enjoyed building Bird Houses for his family and friends in Perks shed. Loved playing with his Dalmatians Max I II III. He was Past Commander of E.T. Ruane Post 476, Cohoes, Past Commander of Legnard Curtain Post 927, Green Island, Third District Cheminot of the 40/8 Albany County Voiture, member of Masonic Temple Lodge 75, Latham, VFW Post 729, Watervliet. Hosted Hospitality Rooms at American Legion Conventions for 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Lillian Grignon Peak of Cohoes, he was pre deceased by his son John E. Peak. Brother of Stanley (Dolores) Peak of Seminole, FL, William (Laura) Peak of Troy, Frank (Wanda) Peak of Lansingburg and the late Anne Naprowski, Mary Campbell and Jean Calhoun. Grandfather of Tina Sala (Sean Garrow), great grandfather of Jillian, Katelyn and Justin Sala and the late Dylan Sala and Sean P. and Amber Garrow, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Thursday 11:00am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes with Rev. William Turnbull officiating. Interment in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm.
