John V. Bennett Katy, Texas – John (Jack) V. Bennett, 93 of Katy, Texas and formerly of Boght Road, Cohoes died in Katy, Texas on Monday, January 16, 2012 after a long illness. He was born and educated in Cohoes and was the son of the late Harold and Bessie Clute Bennett. He was the owner and operator of Bennett Textile in Cohoes, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cohoes and later the Reformed Church of the Boght, a 70 year member of the Evening Star Lodge F&AM #75, a member of the Watervliet Elks #1500 and was active in the VFW Post 7411 and Boy scouts of America. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a founding member of Boght Community Fire Department. Husband of the late Betty Hartshorn Bennett. Father of Nancy J. Holmes of Katy, TX and the late Harold A. Bennett. Brother of the late Ruth Calder, grandfather of Todd Miller of Richmond, VA, Christopher Bennett of Katy, TX. and Jennifer Fruia of Katy, TX, also survived by 5 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Thursday, from 4 to 7pm. Masonic Service will be held at 6:30pm followed by a Memorial Service at 7pm with Rev. Ray Stees officiating. Interment 11:00am Friday in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
