Joseph Avossa TROY - Joseph Avossa, beloved father, grandfather ,uncle and friend to many died on February 8th at the age of 82 while in the loving care of Samaritan Hospital and the Community Hospice. Born in Raito, Italy Joseph met and married US Navy Radioman First Class Joan A. Maguire (1927-2003 ) of Troy while serving as a member of the Italian National Military Police (Carabinieri ) and both were stationed at the NATO installation in Naples, Italy. Joseph joined his wife, children Matthew and Anne, parents Nicola and Maria Grazia and brothers Raffaele, Franco, Mario, Michele and Gerardo in God's eternal grace. He is survived by brother Pasquale and sister Carmella; children Maria , Gerard , Karen and Nick; son- in law David; daughters –in- law Elizabeth and Carol; grandchildren Nicholas, Elizabeth , Michael ,David and Ian ;and step- grandchildren Andrew and Jeffrey. Throughout his life ,Joseph touched the lives of many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and in Italy .He was “Uncle Joe “ to some “Dr. Joe “ to others and loving and caring friend and family man to all. He was an avid New York Giants and New York Mets fan ,and a true classic movie aficionado Before retiring from Key bank ,Joseph worked for A&P Markets as well as Safety . and Security for R.P.I. and Rite Aid. “Giuseppe's “ family welcomes all to his visitation at The Wm. Leahy Funeral home 336 Third St. Troy on Wednesday February 13, from 3- 7 PM The funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church in downtown Troy where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mario Julian OFM, pastor. Followed by interment At The Gerald B.H.
