Joseph R. Gallo WATERFORD - Joseph R. Gallo, 84, of Cappabianca Dr., died Monday April 21, 2014 at Van Rensselaer Manor. Born in Troy to Louise Gallo Lausen, he was educated in the Troy School System. Joe joined the Army Corps of Engineers serving in the Pacific Theater of the occupation forces in Japan during World War II. After his military service Joe was a deckhand for the Miron Sea-going and Canal Tugboat Company. He later worked for Allied Bendix Corporation where he retired after 35 years. He was also worked as a mixologist for the Captain’s Table Restaurant in Latham, Romano’s Restaurant in Halfmoon, and the Cohoes-Waterford Elks Club. Mr. Gallo was one of the founders and a past Vice President of UNCAS, the Shenendehowa High School Athletic Booster Club. Joe also served as President of the Halfmoon Fire Company and as a Fire Commissioner for Saratoga County. He is a member of the American Legion, Mohawk Post 1450 in Halfmoon and a Life Member of the Cohoes-Waterford Lodge of Elks and had been named “Elk of the Year”. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford. He was the husband of the late Helen Francesconi Gallo and father of Michael J. Gallo (Eileen) of Mechanicville and Paul J. Gallo of Saratoga. Brother of the late Fredrick Cesta (Fran) of Troy and Vincent Lausen of Telluride, Colorado. Grandfather of Scott M. Gallo (Stephanie) and Andrew J. Gallo (Alison) both of Charleston, South Carolina. Great Grandfather to Andrew “Joey” Gallo Jr. Brother-in-law to Arlene Francesconi Carnevale (Dominic), Diane Slater, Ronald Francesconi (Marilyn), Dennis Francesconi (Carolyn), Leo Francesconi, and many nieces and nephews. In addition, friend to his extended family of the Sleasmans. Funeral services will be Saturday May 3, 2014 at 10am at the Philip J .Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St (Rte. 32), Waterford. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Friday May 2, 2014 from 3:30 to 8.
